Safety & Insurance

Every job performed to the highest safety standards

Our Safety Commitment

Safety is not an afterthought at Iceni Tree Care — it is built into everything we do. Before any work begins, our team carries out a thorough written risk assessment of the site, the tree and the surrounding environment. We identify hazards, establish exclusion zones and ensure every operative knows the plan before a single cut is made.

Tree surgery is classified as one of the highest-risk trades in the UK. We take that classification seriously. Our safety culture means we will never rush a job, never skip a check and never put pressure on our team to take shortcuts. If conditions are not safe — we stop and reassess.

This commitment protects our team, your property and any members of the public in the vicinity of our work.

Insurance Cover

We are fully insured on every job. We are happy to provide proof of insurance on request before work begins — just ask.

£10m Public Liability Insurance

Comprehensive public liability cover on every single job — protecting you, your property and any third parties throughout the duration of our work.

Employer's Liability Insurance

Full employer's liability cover protecting our team members while they work on your site. This is a legal requirement we take seriously.

Professional Indemnity

Professional indemnity cover for any advice or consultancy services we provide, giving you added confidence in our recommendations.

Qualifications

NPTC / CS Chainsaw & Climbing

All our operatives hold current National Proficiency Tests Council (NPTC) / City & Guilds qualifications for chainsaw use and aerial tree work.

MEWP Operator Certification

Certified operators for Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (cherry pickers), allowing safe access to large or difficult trees without compromise.

First Aid Trained

At least one first-aid trained operative is on site at all times. We never cut corners when it comes to the wellbeing of our team and those around us.

Regular CPD Training

Our team undertakes regular Continuing Professional Development to stay current with best practice, new techniques and evolving safety standards.

Standards We Follow

BS 3998:2010

British Standard for Tree Work — the industry benchmark for specification and execution of arboricultural work. All our work is carried out in compliance with this standard.

Arboricultural Association Guidelines

We follow guidance and best practice published by the Arboricultural Association, the UK's leading professional body for tree care.

HSE Guidance for Tree Surgery

Full compliance with Health and Safety Executive guidance for tree surgery, including use of exclusion zones, PPE and risk assessment documentation.

Equipment & PPE

Every member of the Iceni Tree Care team uses the correct full personal protective equipment (PPE) for their role on site. This includes cut-resistant chainsaw trousers, helmets with face shields and hearing protection, gloves, and safety boots as a minimum for ground workers.

Climbers wear additional specialist PPE including certified climbing helmets, eye protection, and full harness systems rated for tree work. No operative ever works at height without the correct equipment.
